Our patients range from individuals diagnosed with simple pneumonia to those with complex acute and chronic illnesses. This diverse patient population offers opportunities to acquire specialized knowledge in respiratory medicine, oncology and palliative care, pain management, geriatrics, and wound and skin care. Affiliated with various academic institutions, including the University of Toronto, our unit is committed to continuous learning and professional development, making it an ideal environment for nurses to grow and excel.In this role you will:Apply the nursing process in the provision of holistic patient and family-centered careProvide comprehensive and accurate documentation of assessments, care provision, and evaluationsAnticipate, recognize, and address rapidly changing situations.Provide health education to patients and their families using effective teaching strategiesProvide direct patient care in accordance to the CNO standards and Sinai Health's policy and proceduresAdminister medications and provide any necessary care (including, but not limited to wound care, IVs, monitoring drains, prepare patients for procedures, etc.)Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, social workers, clinical nurse specialists, etc.Apply a broad range of nursing skills and procedures including (but not exclusive to) CADD pumps, chest tubes, nephrostomy tubes, complex wounds, central lines, enteral feeding tubes, TPN,
CIWA monitoring, managing a Code Blues, and chemotherapyParticipate in the mentoring of learners, peers and other regulated and unregulated health professionalsAdvocate and contribute to safe discharge and transition planningPerform other duties consistent with the job classification as requiredJob Requirements:MandatoryCurrently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)Graduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing (PN) program.
