The Laboratory Technician is responsible for day-to-day operations in a biohydrometallurgy laboratory supporting a team of 5–7 researchers.About BrokkrBrokkr is a Burnaby, BC–based start-up developing nature-based, lower-impact solutions for metal extraction as an alternative to conventional mineralprocessing. We are a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers working across mineral processing, microbiology, biochemistry, and mineengineering to bring these technologies to industrial scale.What you will doSupport experimental setup and execution for R&D activitiesPrepare reagents, media, and standards; maintain microbial culturesMaintain accurate records and support reportingMaintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and inventoriesManage consumables, reagents, and procurement (ordering, receiving, vendor coordination)Ensure compliance with GLP, SOPs,
and safety proceduresSupport lab and field deployment activitiesManage data archives and documentationHandle laboratory waste in line with regulatory requirementsSupport OHS compliance, including inspections and safety documentationWho you areTechnical diploma or BSc in biology, chemistry, or related field1–3 years of laboratory experienceFamiliar with GLP, WHMIS, SDS, and standard lab safety practicesStrong organisational, time management, and communication skillsDetail-oriented with solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilityComfortable with standard computer toolsNice to haveExperience with lab procurement and vendor coordinationFamiliarity with hazardous/biological waste handling and WorkSafeBC requirementsCompensation$45,000 – $55,000 CAD per year, paid semi-monthly15 days paid time off per yearThis position may be eligible for wage subsidy funding through BioTalent Canada's Career Starter Program.
