From hosting company holiday parties and charity shotgun tournaments to spectacular weddings and regular public golf, we are proud to consistently deliver memorable experiences to our community.Position Overview:Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales and Events, the Supervisor, Events is responsible for all aspects of the event lifecycle, including but not limited to the sale, booking, planning, coordination, execution, and payment reconciliation of events at Redwoods. Events can range from small banquets to large weddings. The Supervisor, Events plays a key role in providing leadership to staff from all departments on an event day, including troubleshooting, decision‐making and communicating directions to ensure smooth event execution.This is a part-time, hourly, 12-month fixed term contract role. Due to the nature of the industry, shifts often fall on evenings, weekends and holidays so a flexible schedule is required. While the role is considered part-time, during our main events season, this position offers upwards of 40 hours of work per week.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Execute the sale and booking of weddings, banquets,
and other eventsRespond to all event inquiriesCoordinate and lead venue tours, inquiry meetings and other event-related meetingsObtain and organize all event details and create Banquet Event Orders to communicate details to applicable departmentsCoordinate all event logistics and services needed to run the event, including the layout, all food and beverage, decor, music, technology, equipment etc.Communicate between and mobilize all necessary departments involved in each eventReview event setup and assign side duties to setup employees as necessaryBe present on event days to supervise event setup, execution, troubleshoot, answer questions and act as a liaison to other departmentsPrepare event contracts and invoicesObtain deposits, take and keep track of paymentsAssist with miscellaneous office tasksBook tee times and be knowledgeable in the golf reservation systemOther duties as assignedSkills and Abilities:Phenomenal customer service skills and a passion for hospitalityTeam orientedExcellent administration and organizational skillsExceptional verbal and written communication skillsMeticulous attention to detailLeadership skills and the ability to delegate tasksAbility to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlinesSales skills and the ability to build productive business relationshipsWillingness and ability to work a flexible schedule based upon facility and event schedulesQualifications:Minimum one year of experience in a hospitality environmentValid Serving it Right is requiredWillingness to complete a Police Information Check is requiredValid Basic First Aid, with CPR-C and AED Certification, or equivalent, will be required to be maintained during employmentOne or more years of experience in event organization is an assetExperience in any wedding-related industry is an assetPost-secondary education in Event Management, Event Planning or another related discipline is an asset
