Role OverviewReporting to the Principal, Junior School, the Social Worker provides support to ensure the social and emotional wellbeing of students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The Social Worker works closely with divisional School Principals and interdisciplinary teams to counsel students in order to resolve issues and proactively build resilience and coping skills in students. This is a temporary, part-time contract position created to address an immediate staffing need. A permanent part-time Social Worker position will be posted in the near future following a review of the role and the School's evolving needs. supportive school environment where every student can thrive.Experience1-3 years of relevant experience is preferredCurrent students and recent graduates are welcome to applyExperience working with students is an assetExperience and comfort in using Mac and Google Suite is an assetEducationPost-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide individual/group support to students across the School (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12)Conduct classroom presentations/workshops to talk about self-regulation, conflict management, bullying, problem solving, and other relevant topicsAttend and contribute to regular Circle of Care meetings in all three School divisionsManage referrals for students and parentsAttend IEP meetings when neededFacilitate restorative justice circles (when conflict arises)Liaise with CAS on family and student issues as they pertain to SMLSSupport SMLS employees with Duty To Report CAS callsSMLS' culture is highly collaborative and community-oriented.
