Position: Occupational Health Support NurseDepartment: Occupational Health & Safety ServicesConditioncs: Part-time (approximately 53.25 bi-weekly hours)Shifts: Days, 7.5-hour shifts (subject to change)Wage Range: $32.14/hr (minimum) to $38.95/hr (maximum)Closing Date: JUNE 8, 2026About the RoleAs a member of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHSS) Team the role of the OHSS Support Nurse at QCH is to deliver safe, quality, evidence-based support to the OHSS team and it's mandate to provide on-site occupational health services to promote the health, wellness, and safety of individual workers and the workplace. Working as part of multidisciplinary, cohesive healthcare team to promote the wellbeing of workers, the Support Nurse maintains professional competence and is accountable for ongoing practice-relevant professional training and learning. The support nurse brings excellent patient assessment, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills.ResponsibilitiesOperates a clinic with booked visits and walk-insProvide first aid and or follow-up in the event of employee injury at workCarries out employee accident and injury report follow upConducts and monitors all initial health assessments (onboarding)
and required immunization for new hiresProvide support to the Occupational Health RN on exposure and outbreak managementProvide support to the Occupational Health RN for medical surveillance programs as requiredProvide support for wellness and health promotion initiativesAccountable for scope of practice and knowledge of when to seek and collaborate with RNCommunicates with stakeholders such as OHSS, Pharmacy, Communications, etc., to plan annual flu campaignProvides immunizations as requiredRequirementsCollege Diploma in Practical Nursing from a recognized programRegistered with the College of Nurses of OntarioMinimum 3 to 5 years recent RPN experience with 1 year working in occupational health (work or educational related)Current BCLSExcellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsAbility to understand, interpret and carry out verbal and written instructions in the English languageAbility to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional teamDemonstrated computer competencyAdheres to all College of Nurses Professional Standards and GuidelinesKnowledge of Professional Guidelines and Standards of Practice: Canadian Immunization Standards and vaccine schedulesCollege of Nurses Professional Standards and GuidelinesPersonal Health Information Protection ActConsent to Treatment ActOntario Occupational Health & Safety Act and RegulationsOntario Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Ministry of Labour guidelinesPreferredCollege certificate in Occupational Health Nursing or a university diploma in Occupational Health NursingThis posting is for a casual position, where there are no minimum guarantee of hours.
