Assistant Veterinary Technician - Part-TimePart Time AVT Ottawa, ON, CA4 days ago Requisition ID: 1236Salary Range: $24.02 To $27.01 HourlyJob PurposeThe Assistant: Veterinary Technician is responsible for providing a range of services, including medical, for animals in the care of the Ottawa Humane Society.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitor animal health and well-beingProvide medical and general animal assessment servicesProvide prescribed treatments and other medical interventionsClean and maintain animal holding areas, facilities, and equipmentAssist veterinary technicians and veterinarians as requiredAssist and support clients as requiredSupport the activities of coworkers, volunteers, students and work placements and provide orientation and training as requiredBe thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, OHS policies, procedures, collective agreement, and good animal care practicesProduce and maintain accurate reports, records, and filesParticipate in supervision, evaluation, training and other meetings as requiredParticipate in the identification and evaluation of OHS program goals and objectivesParticipate in professional development opportunitiesRepresent the OHS in a professional mannerParticipate in public relations and promotional activities as requiredQualificationsVeterinary Assistant Certificate, a minimum of one year relevant clinical experience, or a combination thereofProfessional working proficiency in spoken and written English is requiredWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsEmployee will be required to work evening, holiday and weekend shiftsEmployment is conditional upon the ability to provide services in a protected manner, including, but not limited to,
