AVI Health & Community Services is looking for a SAFER Support Worker to provide peer support to individuals navigating substance use within a secure and inclusive environment. Utilize your lived experience to connect with clients.This crucial role involves working alongside the SAFER team to promote dignity and safety in harm reduction practices. Under the supervision of the Clinic Care Manager, you will build rapport with participants and act as an ambassador for SAFER in the community.



Your compassion and commitment will foster connections that enhance the well-being of those you support.Key Responsibilities:Engage with potential participants and provide program informationWelcome individuals to the SAFER space and support themDistribute safer use supplies and educate clientsMonitor clients during substance use and respond to incidentsFacilitate communication between participants and healthcare providersRequirements:Lived experience with drug use challengesAt least two years in relevant service deliveryFirst aid qualifications preferredUnderstanding harm reduction principlesAbility to maintain professionalism in stressful settingsHelp create a positive and respectful atmosphere as part of the AVI community through your peer support work.
