FTAI operates globally and has offices in New York, Miami, Montreal, Singapore, Dubai, United Kingdom, and Ireland.Job OverviewThe design group is responsible for the development of new repairs or modifications in the turbofan aircraft engine. The major role of the design engineering specialist is to develop and to analyze new repair methods as well as to take the repair design through Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) regulatory approval process.ResponsibilitiesInteract with various stakeholders and disciplines (e.G. component repair engineering, aero-technician, supply chain, tooling, maintenance, etc...) to establish statement of work for the proposed new repairsGenerate new repair procedure by analyzing the available repair methods and the component functional constraintsReview the existing repairs from the OEM engine shop manual,



relevant literature or standard shop practices to verify the feasibility and practicality of the proposed repairsAnalyze the physics of the component to generate boundary conditions for the analytical modelsPerform mathematical calculations, finite element simulations, and failure mode effect analysis to substantiate the new repair, according to the TCCA airworthiness manual standardsAssess the repair compliance with key success factors by testing, inspection or post-processing of numerical simulation resultsPropose new solutions to improve the quality of the new repairCreate and maintain related documentation for internal and external approvalsActively engage in technical discussions, quality audit review, TCCA technical meetings, ...QualificationsMechanical, aeronautical, materials, manufacturing or equivalent engineering degree from an accredited universityIndustrial experience in developing new repairs for metallic components. Minimum of Five (5) years relevant experience or equivalentKnowledge of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid dynamicsKnowledge of solid mechanics, metallurgy, non-destructive inspection methodsAbility to interpret complex engineering drawings, and technical specificationsMicrosoft Office proficiency - Excel, Word, Power Point, etc...Familiar with CAD software, e.G SolidworksFamiliar with finite element simulation software,
