Responsibilities

• Develop practice plans, game strategies, and other coaching tools and resources in order to develop player skill sets while having fun playing the sport


• Teach players proper technique for all aspects of the game including footwork, ball handling, shooting mechanics, defense techniques, court positioning etc.


• Monitor student-athletes academic and social progress


• Establish high standards for team conduct, encouragement and discipline


• Communicate regularly with players, parents, administration, and other staff members of the organization


• Create a positive environment where players can learn fundamental skills to play successfully at higher levels


• Maintain records of player development and performance over the course of the season


• Attend coaching seminars, clinics, and meetings as required

Qualifications/Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related field preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent minimum requirement


• 3+ years Basketball Coaching/playing experience






• Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals including offensive/defensive strategies, drills, and team management


• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task


• Knowledge of sport safety guidelines and injury prevention


• Ability to motivate student-athletes, create a positive team setting, and demonstrate sportsmanship


• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead by example


• Valid driver’s license is required (including travel as needed)


• Successful completion of background check(s) required prior to start date.


• Ability to travel as needed for games/tournaments/clinics etc.
