Discovery has an experienced team, dedicated to being a highly profitable producer of gold and silver that generates superior returns, delivers substantial social-economic benefits and meets the highest environmental standards.The PositionReporting to the Risk & Assurance Supervisor, the Safety Coordinator will promote safety by advising, influencing others and supporting all workers on the journey to zero harm. This position will participate with the safety team to ensure safety program is appropriate, current and implemented to reduce the risk of injury to everybody on site and provide health and safety technical expertise to various departments.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopment of the daily incident/injury reportCoordinate the Weekly Safety Report and management of leading indicators program (JSOs, PTOS, Safety Tours, CCVs, etc.)Support incident investigation at both levels (Loss Causation and ICAM) across all departmentsDevelopment of the monthly Crew PresentationSupport security function at site, ensuring access is controlled according to existing processDocument control tasks, including quality review and process managementSupport the operation through planned Pre-Work HSEC reviews and ad-hoc JSA developmentConduct targeted spot audits/field checks in the workplace (surface and UG), as directedPerformance of assigned Critical Control VerificationsAct as a subject matter expert on the OHSA, Reg 854,
and all other applicable legislationAdministration of the site KSS system - update users for active and inactive employees, crews, passwords, permissions etc.Support the development of site-wide communications for Hazard Alerts, FYI'sAll other duties as assignedSkills And QualificationsUniversity Degree, College Diploma or equivalent2 – 5 years of mining experienceKnowledge of the laws and regulations as it pertains to mines and mining plantsKnowledge of site-specific policies and proceduresExcellent verbal and written communicationExcellent skills in computer software/applicationsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsCapable of prioritizing and organizing workload and assigned tasks and completing work in timely mannerCompensation And BenefitsCompetitive total compensation package including:Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, Disability, Healthcare and Wellness Spending Accounts, Virtual Care and Employee and Family Assistance Program; Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; andAnnual compensation of CAD$79,000 to CAD$99,000.Additional InformationThis posting is for an existing vacancy at Discovery's Kidd Operations.We thank all candidates in advance.
