Position OverviewNAIT's Heavy Equipment Technician program trains students to maintain, repair and overhaul heavy vehicles and industrial equipment, both towed and self‐propelled. The temporary position will end on or before June 30, 2027, with a possibility of extension and may be used to fill multiple positions. The successful candidate will be an energetic, empathetic, and student‐focused instructor who motivates learners and supports academic achievement. They will bring strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and proven experience delivering adult education in a postsecondary or skills‐based learning environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry settingParticipate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviewsFacilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materialsManage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environmentCreate assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress recordsProvide ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention and respond to student issuesUtilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotionsMaintain professional and ethical relationships with students,
colleagues and industry partnersUtilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvementImprove the quality of instruction through professional development activitiesOther duties as assignedSkills & AbilitiesStrong ability to collaborate as a team player, contributing positively as a member of an academic teamProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a respectful, supportive, and effective approach in interactions with faculty, staff, and studentsAbility to manage competing priorities and support multiple tasks in a quick‐paced academic environmentStrong organizational and time‐management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and contribute to ongoing process improvement effortsQualificationsHigh School DiplomaCompletion of Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyperson ticket or provincial equivalent requiredInter‐Provincial Red Seal preferredMinimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticketAdditional relevant post‐secondary education and/or professional development training is an assetTeaching experience an assetRemunerationSalary range: $69,189.78 – $120,361.23 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
