RVS encourages applications from individuals who can help shape and embody our core values of Leadership, People, Community and Innovation, and support our vision that RVS is a world-class learning organization where all students achieve their absolute best.The OpportunityRVS invites applications from qualified individuals for a continuing full-time (35 hrs/wk) Speech Language Pathologist with the Learning Supports team starting August 26, 2026.This Position Requires Early Childhood Experience.Speech Language Pathologists provide speech and language services to referred students throughout The Rocky View Schools (RVS) utilizing a multitiered system of service delivery, from Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 within inclusive environments. Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) provide consultation, screening, specialized assessment, intervention, and equipment (speech generating devices) for students experiencing communication challenges that significantly impact their ability to access the school curriculum.The successful candidate must have access to reliable transportation as travel is required.



Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with established RVS procedures.ResponsibilitiesConducts screenings using informal speech and language measures and interprets and communicates the results to school staff and familiesCoordinates test results with other diagnostic data, such as education, medical, occupational therapy, social and behavioural informationConsults and collaborates with parents and RVS staff to develop appropriate follow-up recommendations for programmingProvides documentation for the purpose of identifying children eligible for fundingInitiates referrals to other agencies and programs as necessary and supporting children, families, and schools at transition pointsIdentifies needs of young children within the context of their school or home environmentPrepares written assessment reports for the child's confidential file and for relevant community professionals per family requestsPromotes improved communication competence for at risk children through program planning with teachers and families and through classroom-based intervention activitiesWorks with the RVS Early Intervention Team to develop comprehensive services for children with exceptional needsAssists in the development, evaluation, and revision of student's Individual Program Plans in consultation and collaboration with families, teachers, and other instructional staffProvides teachers with inclusive classroom-based supportsProvides resource material to support and facilitate educational programmingProvides in-service for school staff and families to build Speech Language capacityMaintains contact with community agencies and partnerships to develop a coordinated program of service and to assist schools and families in accessing appropriate resourcesEducation and ExperienceMaster's degree in Speech Language PathologyCurrent registration, in good standing,



with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists including a valid permit to practiceMinimum 2 years' experience working with children with speech and language delays/disordersPrevious experience within a school division and/or with Student Information Records Systems is considered an assetKnowledge and SkillsStrong assessment and problem-solving skills to identify and address developmental and educational delays related to speech language challengesExpertise in identifying, diagnosing, and planning speech language interventions for children/students experiencing communication challengesProven ability to establish a rapport with children/youth, families, and other professional staffAbility to successfully work in a multi-disciplinary team workplace as well as independently with minimal supervisionProven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clientsKnowledge of records management principles including Privacy LegislationStrong consultation, coaching, and facilitation skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate and convey highly technical/medical information to parents/guardians and staffStrong presentation and instructional skills with the ability to present to a wide range of stakeholdersProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applicationsRocky View Schools Benefits6% vacation payBenefits Plan (Extended health, Dental, Wellness/Health Care Spending Account, Tax Free Savings Account and Registered Retirement Savings Plan)Defined Pension PlanProfessional development and training opportunitiesPre-employment RequirementsThe successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employmentProof of qualifications/education as required by the position including WES/IQAS evaluation documents for completed education outside of Canada.Applicants must provide a professional letter of reference, attached to the job application, from their most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months; or a list of updated references of a current/recent supervisor on your application.
