Job Overview

The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to ten Advanced Aquatics and First Aid Instructors to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Arts and Culture Division, Recreation Programs and Services Department. Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, in this unionized position you will apply your advanced knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise to instruct a variety of Advanced Aquatic and First Aid programs for participants of various ages, abilities and interests. This position will appeal to applicants who have strong leadership and communication skills and are committed to excellence in customer service.

Responsibilities

Assist and participate in the planning process, organization and promotion of advanced aquatics and first aid programs

Maintain inventory of instruction supplies and equipment

Assist in conducting a maintenance and custodial program ensuring that established standards of cleanliness and safety are enforced

Respond to enquiries/complaints from the public regarding programs and activities

Perform related work as required

Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, combined with related experience in programs and activities

Sound knowledge of recreation programs, practices, and objectives

Ability to organize, lead and participate in recreation programs and activities





Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with participants, recreation staff and volunteers

Additional certifications are considered an asset

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment).

Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer - RI2

Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor Trainer - RI4

Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor - R14

Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor - R12

Position Title and Rate of Pay

Recreation Instructor 2 (RI 2)

- $33.03 - $36.69 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits

Recreation Instructor 3 (RI 3)

- $34.25 - $37.92 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of advantages

Recreation Instructor 4 (RI 4)

- $35.47 - $39.14 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of advantages

Recreation Instructor 5 (RI 5)

- $36.69 - $40.37 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits
