Hours of Work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (with some potential flexibility) and staff meetings when necessary
Wage: $20 - 35 depending on experience
Job Description The Supported Childcare Worker provides care to children with supported child care needs to allow for inclusion in the center program. This position helps to ensure children with supported child care needs are able to reach their goals developed in collaboration with the Child Development Centre.
Specific tasks include:
Assist staff in implementing the Individual Program Plan (IPP) to facilitate successful inclusion
Develop and maintain a positive environment
Assist staff and the child in group and individual activities, following the IPP
Liaise with parents/caregivers, the Child Development Centre and Childcare Services on all aspects of the child’s behavior and participation
Ensure that all health and safety guidelines, policies and procedures are followed at all times
Attend all necessary staff meetings and training sessions
Communicate with the staff to promote an open, team-oriented environment.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience working with children ages 18 months to 5 years, specifically those children with extra support
Ability to communicate skillfully and sensitively with the child, the parents, co-workers and
Ability to objectively observe the child’s behavior and to report on these observations
Understanding and ability to apply first aid and emergency response
Ability to maintain confidential records
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner without supervision
