Job Description What is the Opportunity? The Chief Data Office (CDO) is a first line function that provides execution support for critical data governance and data management activities. The CDO guides the evolution of RBC’s data strategy and influences strategic investments in data to support business strategy and regulatory compliance. The data governance team is responsible for leading the design of best practices to be adopted by the CDO as well as the first line data risk owners.

This associate director level position is an enterprise role defining and delivering first line governance activities. This role is critical in ensuring that our data practices adhere to the regulations set forth by the applicable global regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, risks and controls, and experience with policy management and/or data analytic. This position will report to the Governance & Regulatory Initiatives director within the CDO.

What will you do?

Help lead the maintenance of the RBC Enterprise Data Management Procedure and associated guidance materials

Provide continuing advisory support to the Data Management Offices in complying with the RBC Enterprise Data Management Procedure, and related Policy and Standards

Collaborate with and solicit feedback from CDO subject matter experts, and first and second line stakeholders regarding the CDO’s guidance materials

Support the CDO in managing and responding to Internal Audits and Regulatory Examinations

Develop and annually refresh training materials and job aids/playbooks to support first line stakeholders in their efforts to comply with policy requirements





Become familiar with internal information risk management policies and standards requirements

What do you need to succeed?

5-7 years in a data management role

Experience with data analytics; designing internal management reporting metrics

Background in data management risks and controls design, testing, and/or execution

Regulatory or compliance exposure preferred

Willingness and proven ability to pivot between data management subject matters
