SYLVIS is looking to expand its reach by growing across North America and is looking for employees that approach life with a desire to always learn, evolve, and grow.THE POSITIONThe Metro Vancouver based Operations & Logistics Coordinator position is an opportunity to join a growing team of professionals who are passionate about the SYLVIS mission to Make Waste History through sustainable residuals management.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys subcontractor management, transportation logistics, schedule coordination, hauling and shipment tracking, data accuracy, and clear communication with subcontractors. Working with project managers, transportation contractors, farm partners and field personnel, you will maintain tracking systems and project records, support invoice reconciliation, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
Note that SYLVIS does not own transport vehicles but works closely with subcontractors to manage transportation requirements and coordination.This is primarily an office-based, in-person position in at the New Westminster office in Metro Vancouver, with occasional field activities and trips to project sites. The position responsibilities include being on call to manage time sensitive phone calls outside of standard office hours. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with data entry and reporting, and motivated by supporting sustainability-focused projects through effective operational coordination.FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Support operational logistics planning and coordination for projectsAssess, select and draft contracts for current subcontractorsCoordinate transportation logistics, including scheduling, hauling status tracking, and route and site access planningAct as the primary contact for subcontracted transporters, coordinating schedules, documentation, and day-to-day operational communicationsMaintain forecasts, shipment and hauling records, communication logs, databases, spreadsheets, and other project recordsCollect, verify, enter, and manage transportation, equipment, and project data with a high degree of accuracyReview transportation invoices, reconcile operational records, and support project cost tracking and forecastingPrepare transportation-related reports, including hauling summaries, communication updates, project metrics, and performance trackingSupport project teams through effective coordination, continuous improvement of systems and processes,
and general operational and administrative support.QUALIFICATIONSDiploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Environmental Technology, or a related field.Legally authorized to work in CanadaSKILLS & EXPERIENCE3+ years of experience in logistics coordination, transportation coordination, operations support, dispatch coordination, project administration, or a similar roleExperience coordinating multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExperience maintaining spreadsheets, tracking systems, communication logs, and operational recordsStrong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applicationsExperience reviewing invoices, reconciling records, and supporting project cost trackingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsOutstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, data accuracy, documentation quality, and follow-throughStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently while supporting multiple project teamsExperience with logistics, dispatch, CRM, or ERPs is an assetExperience with trucking, freight, shipment tracking, carrier coordination, or supply chain operations is an assetExperience in waste management, environmental services, agriculture, construction, transportation, or municipal operations is an assetExperience with GIS and mapping software is an assetBENEFITSSYLVIS is committed to offering a competitive benefits package and fostering long-term employee satisfaction and retention.
