Bigstone Health Commission is seeking dedicated Shelter Support Workers to help foster a respectful and safe setting for those experiencing homelessness. Your support will be vital in ensuring dignity and comfort in our shelter.
In this role, you will assist with client intake, provide crisis intervention, and maintain a clean, safe space for residents. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are crucial to support our trauma-informed approach, ensuring all individuals receive the assistance they need, while keeping accurate documentation of situations and services.
Key Responsibilities: • Ensure safety and well-being of all residents • Conduct client intake and facilitate sleeping arrangements • Provide crisis intervention and support • Distribute meals and perform housekeeping tasks • Maintain client documentation and incident reports
Requirements: • Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred • Experience in shelters or outreach settings is an asset • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices required • Certifications in First Aid/CPR and NVCI preferred • Willingness to work rotating shifts
