Step into a critical role at Algoma University as the Labour Relations Lead, enhancing employee relations within a diverse community. This full time, temporary position offers opportunities in Brampton or Sault Ste. Marie.
As part of the People & Culture team, you'll provide guidance on labour relations, ensuring effective policy applications and resolving workplace conflicts. Your role will encompass managing sensitive investigations, maintaining compliance with collective agreements, and fostering an inclusive setting aligned with the university’s values.
Your analytical expertise will be key in supporting decision-making for employee relations.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle day-to-day labour relations inquiries and support management
Build relationships with internal and unionized stakeholders
Conduct research and gather data for effective reporting
Engage in arbitrations and collective bargaining processes
Provide necessary training on collective agreements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
At least five years in labour relations within unionized settings
Sound knowledge of collective agreements and employment laws
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with Indigenous communities is a plus
Drive positive change and uphold inclusive practices with Algoma University’s Labour Relations department.
