Position : Night Awake Assistant
Location: Homefires House
Term: Permanent, 70% FTE
Salary : Commensurate with experience
Contracted Hours: 28.5 hours per week, set schedule
L’Arche Homefires is seeking an energetic and compassionate individual who is willing to work alongside individuals with and without developmental disabilities. All assistants are required to become certified in eight (8) training core competencies and mandated Occupational Health (OH&S) which L’Arche Homefires will provide.
We currently have five L’Arche homes in and around Wolfville where people with and without disabilities live together. Homefires House is home to four core members, who share life with a team of live-in and live-out assistants. This is a set ongoing schedule of:
The successful candidate will maintain an awake and alert presence in the home overnight. They will be responsible for light-medium housekeeping duties, personal care, attentiveness to the health and wellness of the core members, provide positive behavior support, and maintain good communication and documentation with the team.
The Night Awake Support will be required to document thorough pass‑on in accordance with L’Arche Homefires guidelines. They will work with the House team to build relationships of mutual care and support while being adaptable and respectful of the changing needs of our core members. The Night Awake Assistant is accountable to the House Leader and will participate in regular performance reviews. Night Awake Assistant are expected to ensure completion and maintenance of all eight (8) core competencies as required by Department of Opportunities and Social Development (DSOD) and any assigned Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), online courses will be assigned to complete during the Night Awake shifts wherever possible. Mandatory in‑person training will be given advance notice.
