The Montessori Toddler Lead Teacher (ECE) is responsible for supporting toddlers through a dynamic stage of growth in language, movement, and independence within Montessori-inspired setting and ensuring active supervision and a protected, responsive environment at all times. This role involves guiding children as they assert independence, navigate emotions, and develop early social skills, while maintaining a nurturing, consistent presence.
DUTIES The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Follow all Alberta licensing requirements, safety procedures, and emergency protocols, ensuring active supervision, ratio compliance, and a safe, responsive environment at all times
Provide warm, attuned, relationship-based care and create a calm, nurturing, and predictable environment for each child.
Lead the planning and implementation of the classroom program in collaboration with the Director.
Offer Montessori-inspired lessons that invite exploration and purposeful movement.
Support children’s development through responsive caregiving, modeling gentle conflict resolution, supporting emotional regulation, and fostering independence in movement, early language, and self-help skills
Follow each child’s individual rhythms for feeding,



sleeping, toileting, and daily routines.
Observe document in a timely manner, and support each child’s development, maintaining accurate records using Lillio and reporting concerns in accordance with centre policies and licensing requirements.
Build strong, respectful relationships with families through daily communication and act as the primary point of contact for the classroom, including handling sensitive conversations professionally
Support and guide team members in the classroom by modeling gentle conflict resolution and supporting emotional regulation, fostering consistency, collaboration, and a positive team workplace.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment, responding appropriately to illness, incidents, and emergencies.
Support daily routines and transitions including arrival, outdoor time, meals, rest, and departure, including outdoor play, sensory exploration, and walks as appropriate.
Support overall centre operations, including assisting in other classrooms and contributing to administrative tasks such as enrollment, open houses, and classroom setup.
