Title: Floor Monitor

Reports to: General Manager HFA

Position Status: Part Time

Salary: $17.00 per hour

Office Location: YMCA of Pictou County

PositionSummary

Reporting tothe General Manager HFA, the Floor Monitor is responsible for daily leadershipand support of health, fitness, and recreation programming. Along withmaintaining YMCA Canada SAM standards and fitness safety.



The Floor Monitorisan integral component in ensuring front line delivery of quality health andwellness programming that enhances member achievement of whole life fitnessgoals in a positive, inclusive, safe, and values-based environment.

Schedule willinclude evenings and weekends.

JOBDESCRIPTION

PrincipleResponsibilities: Listed in order of importance

1. 1. Foster awelcoming, positive environment for members and participants by providingtimely support, guidance, and information towards achievement ofwellness-related goals. Establish strong working relationships and rapport withmembers, visitors, and participants and to enhance their Y experience.
2. 2.Responsible for safety and security of members and participants, by ensuringthat YMCA facility, group sessions, and
3. 3. Equipmentare maintained in keeping with safety requirements. Follow Association, industry,and occupational health and safety requirements in regard to safe workpractices, safety reporting, routine inspections, cleanliness and monitoring ofYMCA program and fitness facilities.
4. 4. Maintain ahigh level of quality instruction by participating in ongoing developmentactivities, workshops, and up to date
5. 5. Industrytrends.



Identify opportunities to maximize member engagement and satisfactionwith programming in support of Building Healthy Communities.
6. 6. Ensureeffective internal and external communications, including timely response toprogram questions, requests for
7. 7.Information, addressing member/participant concerns, interdepartmentalsharing/collaboration. Providing support to Association promotions, events, andoverall program delivery.
8. 8. Otherduties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Previousexperience would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and further involve thoseindividuals in the goals of the organization.
- Excellentverbal and written communication skills.
- Stronginterpersonal skills including: tact, diplomacy, and ability to establishrapport with clients
- Strongattention to detail.
- Flexibilityto work irregular hours required.
- Note:Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactoryCriminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, andproof
- of validFirst Aid and CPR training. Employees will be required to attend YMCA ChildSafeguarding Training.
