- Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including ordering and expediting equipment from Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar suppliers
- Create and manage purchase orders to support demand and inventory requirements
- Maintain accurate procurement records, tracking systems, and item master data
- Support equipment, power systems, and attachment availability while optimizing inventory performance
- Build and maintain standard equipment configurations, pricing structures, and compatibility requirements
- Partner with Industry Representatives to align configurations with product updates and customer needs
- Collaborate with IT and quoting tool teams to maintain accurate system data and configurations
- Work with branches, suppliers, inventory planners, transportation teams, and fulfillment groups to resolve issues and improve equipment availability
- Investigate inventory and process challenges and recommend supply chain improvements
- Provide guidance on procurement processes and equipment ordering procedures
- Identify risks and coordinate solutions across multiple departments
- Maintain procurement procedures and supporting documentation
- Support other buyers and supply chain teams during peak periods and absences
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives enhancing efficiency, service levels, and customer satisfaction
- Uphold Finning's commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3 to 7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory management, supply chain operations, or a related field
- Experience within heavy equipment, automotive, mining, utilities, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or a similar industry is considered an asset
- Knowledge of transportation, logistics,
warehousing, sourcing, contracts management, or master data management is advantageous
- Experience with Lawson or other MRP/ERP systems is preferred
- Strong understanding of procurement, purchasing, and expediting processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with business systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Robust communication and relationship-building skills
- Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail and accountability
