Duties

- Operate the automated co-collection truck and/or manual side tipper truck (Shupak) as directed by the Waste Management Supervisor
- Conduct pre and post inspection checks and perform routine maintenance on the equipment in accordance with approved check list and maintenance programs
- Ensure that equipment is kept in clean condition as required and report any malfunction
- Conduct daily washing/cleaning of equipment
- Ensure that the equipment is operated in a safe, efficient, effective and responsible manner, in accordance with all Legislation, and Department Standard Operating Procedures
- Report any non-conformances, hazards or operational problems associated with the operation
- Maintain accurate records of works undertaken and communicate by two-way radio to update status and issues of the daily operation
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Waste Management Supervisor

Qualifications





- Grade 12 diploma
- Applicant must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class “DZ”
- Must be familiar and knowledgeable in the operating and servicing functions of the Automated Co-Collection Truck and the Manual Side Tipper Truck (Shupak)
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions, and abide by all safety regulations with an excellent safety record in the operation of equipment
- Good knowledge of names and locations of City streets is necessary
- Valuable knowledge of the City waste management system
- Current and clear Driver’s Abstract required
