- Manage investigative records, exhibits, digital evidence, and disclosure materials throughout their lifecycle
- Organize, secure, and maintain electronic and physical records in accordance with operational and legislative requirements
- Audit investigative files for completeness, accuracy, quality, integrity, disclosure readiness, and compliance
- Liaise with police services, government ministries, Crown prosecutors, defence counsel, fatality inquiry stakeholders, oversight agencies, and access and privacy professionals
- Review, vet, prepare, and redact investigative records for disclosure under applicable legislation
- Support investigative operations by setting up and maintaining mobile technology, secure remote access systems, records management tools, X-Fire, and other investigative software
- Provide first-line technical and operational support and training for investigative technologies, databases, hardware, software, and records management systems
- Complete legal searches and obtain documents using JOIN, ROADS, CPIC, and court searches
- Manage and support investigative databases and case management systems for operational requirements, reporting, analytics, and major case management principles
- Meet legislated and operational timelines related to disclosure, correspondence, access to information requests, and records management obligations
Requirements
- A university degree in a related field such as Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Information Management, Records Management, Public Administration, or a related discipline, supplemented by related experience
- Equivalencies: one year of related experience for one year of related education, or one year of related education for one year of related experience
- Experience working with X-Fire or a comparable investigative case management system is an asset
- Experience interpreting and applying privacy, access, and disclosure legislation (e.g., POPA, PIPA) is an asset
- Experience in records and information management,
including database administration, is an asset
- Experience managing digital evidence, disclosure processes, or related information requests is an asset
- Experience using specialized imaging software and equipment is an asset
- Experience within a law enforcement, investigative, oversight, or public sector environment is an asset
- Final candidates must undergo and pass a federal security clearance and maintain that level of security throughout employment
- Background checks include review of previous law enforcement service history and disciplinary history
- Cover letter required
- Written test demonstrating writing skills may be required
