Oxford Learning Thornhill is seeking passionate, energetic teacher‑tutors for a part‑time role in our learning centre. This position is ideal for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language, and is eager to help others build their skills in English and Math.
All lessons are pre‑planned; teacher‑tutors receive full training in our proprietary philosophy and methods and do not need to lesson‑plan independently.
Position Requirements
All teacher‑tutors work after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm). A commitment for the school year is preferred; summer continuation is even better. Reliability is a must.
This role is in‑person; you must be able to commute to the Thornhill location. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered
Teaching certification is an asset
Good knowledge of the current kindergarten‑to‑Grade‑12 curriculum
Experience
Some experience teaching/tutoring at the K‑12 or equivalent level
Solid written and oral English communication skills and ability to guide student understanding
Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
Teach up to three students simultaneously at various levels
Follow Oxford Learning’s methodologies and philosophies
Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communications
Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times
