Your Opportunity The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is one of Canada's leading clinical, research and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually. The UAH and Stollery Children's Emergency Department is a busy tertiary care level I emergency department, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This large tertiary Trauma Centre provides opportunities in a broad base of emergency nursing from pediatrics to trauma care. Registered nurses within the Emergency Department work in a state-of-the-art facility utilizing an electronic tracking system, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for emergency patients. Decisions are made in a collaborative multidisciplinary health-care team workplace. In this role you may be required to work in all areas of Emergency at the discretion of the Unit Manager/Charge Nurse. Working with us is about making a difference. You will feel good knowing that you have helped us achieve our mission and purpose: to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.Description As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide secure,



quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional permit holders will be paid $39.58-54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.If not practiced as a registered nurse within the last 5 years, complete the free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.2 years of med/surg/acute care experience (equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered).Current Basic Life Support (BLS - Heart and Stroke AED Level C) and Healthcare Provider registration with certificate.Excellent communication skills (demonstrated in application package).Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull equipment and assist in transporting, lifting, and positioning patients.Preferred Qualifications 1 year of emergency experience.Recent nursing experience in a tertiary/urban centre.Recent critical care experience in the last 2 years.ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP (certificate prior to interview; 3 of 6 preferred).Certified Emergency Nurse (CAN or CNE) an asset.Excellent assessment, organizational, patient-care and leadership skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
