**Vehicle Technician**

**Job Description**
We're hiring Vehicle Technicians to support the maintenance and reliability of a modern passenger rail fleet operating within Ottawa's public transportation
network.

This role is ideal for experienced diesel, heavy equipment, transit, fleet, and industrial maintenance professionals who enjoy troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems.
**Responsibilities**
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on passenger rail vehicles including diesel-electric and hybrid-powered trains.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, and control systems.

Diagnose faults and complete corrective repairs to keep vehicles operating safely and reliably.

Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic information.

Complete maintenance records and inspection documentation accurately.

Support fleet reliability and availability in a 24/7 public transportation workplace.

Follow all safety, quality, and maintenance procedures.
**Essential Skills**
Minimum of 3 years' maintenance experience in rail, transit, diesel, heavy equipment, fleet, aviation, automotive, or industrial environments.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience on complex equipment or vehicles.

Exposure to electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting, including fault-finding on vehicle or industrial systems.

Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

Valid Class G driver's licence.

Demonstrated ability to work safely in a safety-critical maintenance environment.

Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts on a 4-on/4-off schedule within a 24/7 operation.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Rail, transit, rolling stock, or locomotive maintenance experience preferred
Experience with diesel engines, hybrid propulsion systems, and fleet maintenance.

Background in heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, or aviation maintenance.
HVAC, PLC, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience.

Trade certification (310T or equivalent) considered an asset.

Lead Hand, mentoring, or supervisory experience is an asset.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montreal, QC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $40.84 - $40.84/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
