Job Description
What is the opportunity?
You will design, develop and implement automated, data-driven solutions that minimize manual quality assurance and control performance testing activities in Personal and Commercial Banking Operations. You will also architect scalable data infrastructure and automation capabilities that translate procedural control activities into continuous, data-driven validation frameworks. This role focuses on control effectiveness through technology converting labor-intensive manual processes into robust, auditable automated solutions that reduce human error, improve control coverage, and free operational teams to focus on exception management and risk mitigation.
What will you do?
End-to-end design and development of automated QA and control testing solutions, including requirements gathering with operational and risk partners, technical architecture, data source integration, and implementation of automated validation logic
Translate manual QA procedures, control testing checklists, and compliance verification activities into automated data pipelines and continuous monitoring logic; scope and prioritize high-impact manual processes for automation
Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure supporting automated controls; ensure data quality, accuracy, and auditability of automated control results
Develop comprehensive technical documentation including solution specifications, data lineage, automated test logic, exception handling frameworks, and control validation rules
Conduct testing and validation of new automated solutions and enhancements; establish regression testing protocols to ensure sustained control effectiveness
Account for project scope, timeline estimates, and resource requirements; manage stakeholder communication on solution delivery and issue escalation
Build ETL pipelines and data automation workflows using advanced programming capabilities (SQL, Python, SAS, Snowflake, RBC Assist,
or equivalent); leverage big data modeling techniques and tools where appropriate
Monitor automation effectiveness and control design; recommend enhancements to increase control sensitivity or reduce false positives
Build partnerships across operational risk, control, and technology teams to gather best practices and address barriers to automation adoption
What will you need to succeed?
Must-have:
4–7years experience with data automation, or quality assurance within banking or financial services operations
Demonstrated ETL and big data modeling capabilities with advanced programming experience using SQL, Python, SAS, or similar languages
Experience with R, Hadoop (HIVE), Datameer, Teradata, Snowflake, or similar big data tools
Proven ability to design and implement automated validation logic, data pipelines, and continuous monitoring frameworks
Robust technical documentation skills; ability to articulate complex automation architecture and control logic to non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with RBC systems, applications, and enterprise data warehouses; proficiency with MS Office suite
Nice-to-have:
Experience in operational risk, control management with a solid understanding of control design principles, manual control testing methodologies, and audit/compliance requirements
Experience with ORMS or similar control management systems
Background in internal audit or risk management functions
Knowledge of ICMP/ICMS frameworks
