Shop & Field Attendant (Heavy Duty Mechanic Track) Fort McMurray, AB | Full-Time, Local Position | $30.00/hr to Start
Heavy Equipment Maintenance / Shop & Field Support | Entry Level | 14 on / 14 off Rotation
Position Type: Full time, Local Position (Fort McMurray based)
Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta
Schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off rotation
Compensation: $30.00 per hour to start, plus living out allowance
Experience: Entry level. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic tools required. Oil sands or mine site experience preferred.
Career Path: Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeship, typically within 12 to 18 months, with progression through to Journeyman
Licence: Class 5 Advanced with a clean driver's abstract. Air Brakes will be required as you move into the apprenticeship track.

The Role GrizzlyTrek is seeking Shop & Field Attendants to join our valued client's heavy equipment maintenance team in Fort McMurray. This is a full-time, local position on a 14 days on, 14 days off rotation, starting at $30.00 per hour plus a living out allowance.
The Shop & Field Attendant is an entry level position paving the way for a career as a Heavy Equipment Technician. Apprenticeship opportunities, typically within 12 to 18 months, will be available to successful candidates who are dedicated, hardworking, and show excellent performance, attitude and the desire to move into an apprenticeship role. From there the path runs all the way through to Journeyman.
What You'll Do Adhere to and comply with all safety and environmental policies and initiatives
Complete hazard assessments to a high standard acceptable by OH&S;




Arrange equipment in the yard in an organized fashion
Support supply chain with storage accuracy and parts pickup and delivery as requested
Assist with shipping and receiving as requested
Perform minor maintenance and assist Technicians as requested
Copy and file maintenance and rental documents in compliance with established processes
Grounds maintenance: keep the shop and yard clean of all debris, and organize tire inventory
What You Bring Mechanical background, basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic tools
Class 5 Advanced driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract (Air Brakes will be required as you move into the apprenticeship track)
An excellent safety attitude, promoting and contributing to a strong safety culture with a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
Cooperative communication style with strong verbal, written and comprehension skills
Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team, and follows direction well
Reliable, punctual and organized, with the flexibility to handle priorities that change through the day
Highly motivated and eager to learn, with the initiative to get ahead of tasks in a fast-paced shop
Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance and take pride in your work
Pre-Employment Requirements As part of the hiring process, you will be asked to:
Provide a minimum of a Class 5 Driver's Licence (Advanced) and clean Driver's Abstract
Provide a criminal record check
Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result
Complete a fitness evaluation related specifically to your position
Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the training required to be on site, we will provide it for you)

Preferred Qualifications Oil sands or mine site experience
Current site safety tickets (CSO or CSTS, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid)
Air Brake (Q) endorsement already in hand
Work Environment 14 days on, 14 days off rotation, based in Fort McMurray, with a living out allowance provided
Shop and yard work in a safety-sensitive environment
Attendants are generally required to stand for the entire shift and lift in excess of 50 pounds. Being physically capable of doing the job is a necessity.
Priorities change through the day, so flexibility is part of the job
Why Attendants Take This Job This is the front door to a Heavy Equipment Technician ticket without leaving Fort McMurray. You start at $30.00 an hour with a living out allowance on top, on a 14 and 14 rotation that gives you two full weeks at home. Attendants who show up, work safe and want it move into an apprenticeship, typically within 12 to 18 months, and the path runs all the way through to Journeyman. These openings exist because the last group of Attendants moved up. That is the track you are stepping onto.
Pay is a gross hourly rate before deductions.
What We Offer $30.00 per hour to start, plus a living out allowance
