Make a difference in Aboriginal education with School District 8 as an Aboriginal Education Support Specialist. This role focuses on cultural enrichment and academic assistance during school hours, Monday through Friday.
You will work directly with Aboriginal students, families, and education teams to improve educational experiences. Your efforts will ensure culturally responsive practices that enhance educational outcomes. Engage in various activities, including collaborating with knowledge keepers and participating in community events, making a lasting impact on students' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Aboriginal students with cultural and educational enrichment
• Build relationships with families to foster community involvement
• Assist with record-keeping to meet audit requirements
• Collaborate with educational teams on support strategies
• Promote cultural safety in educational settings
Requirements:
• Diploma in Indigenous Education Support or similar
• Extensive knowledge of local Indigenous cultures
• Strong conflict resolution and relationship-building aptitude
• Ability to multi-task effectively
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
