The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at UCalgary seeks a full-time Bioinformatician/Data Scientist for a 24-month period. This position will enhance research efforts through statistical analysis of biological datasets. You'll deliver consultation and training to faculty, manage bioinformatics workflows, and contribute to research initiatives across the faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop strategic planning for diverse research projects
• Provide bioinformatics support and training to faculty and staff
• Utilize computational tools for genetic and microbiome analysis
• Conduct workshops for students and postdocs on bioinformatics
• Collaborate on grant writing and manuscript preparation
Requirements:
• Master's degree in a relevant area; PhD preferred
• Minimum 3 years of research experience
• Proficiency in Python and R, statistical software skills
• Knowledge in genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
