Established in 1984 to manage the settlement outlined in the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA), Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) represents the collective interests of Inuvialuit. IRC’s goal is to continually improve the economic, social and cultural wellbeing of the Inuvialuit through implementation of the IFA and by all other available means. Through strong partnerships and community‑driven programs, the organization supports economic growth, cultural preservation and opportunities for current and future generations.
Inuvialuit beneficiaries directly control IRC and its subsidiaries through a democratic process of elected directors from each of the six community corporations with chairs at the IRC Board, a process originally outlined in the IFA.
The Program Support Worker, Youth Arctic Sports and Mental Wellness Programs supports the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of community-based wellness initiatives across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. This position focuses on promoting youth Arctic sports, mental wellness, addictions prevention, suicide prevention, cultural connection, healthy lifestyles, and community resilience.
Working under the direction of the Senior Manager, Wellness Programs, the Program Support Worker provides program, logistical, and administrative support for wellness initiatives aligned with the ISR Suicide Prevention Strategy, Aulaqatigiikta, Ilumun Ikayuqatigiit illa – Moving Forward, Healing Together, and other Indigenous Services Canada-funded programs, including the Expanded Youth Arctic Sports and Mental Health Program. The role works closely with Community Corporations, Elders, youth, community partners, and the IRC Health and Wellness Team to support community wellness, resilience, and cultural connection across the ISR.
