**The Position:**
This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, creative and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to join the Extensive Needs Service (ENS) at Holland Bloorview.

This is a program for individuals up to the age of 18, whose needs cannot be met in a single service stream and who require an integrated approach across Mental, Behavioural and Developmental Health.

While this is primarily a clinical role, there will be opportunity to work with other members of an interprofessional team to develop the Speech Language Pathologist role within Extensive Needs based on best practice and evidence.

As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the Speech Language Pathologist will provide trauma-informed and compassionate assessment, and intensive intervention,



and consultation to children, youth and families with extensive needs such as co-occurring medical, physical and developmental complexities and/or social vulnerabilities.

The successful candidate will also provide consultation and training to inter-disciplinary team members.

Services will primarily be provided at the Holland Bloorview main site, and occasional consultation may also occur at school.

Successful candidates should have a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Augmentative and Alternative Communication and behaviour management approaches.
**Key Responsibilities**
Provides evaluation, assessment, intervention and consultation to clients and their families
Works in collaboration to inform integrated care plans
Uses appropriate standardized tests and outcome measures in clinical practice
Uses non-standard assessment tools/forms when appropriate
Makes appropriate referrals to other services, agencies, etc.

Incorporates goal setting in discussion with family/client
Adapts approach to changing needs of clients and families
Engaging family/client in goal setting
Adheres to Centre/professional documentation guidelines
Demonstrates familiarity with current literature, evidence-base practice, clinical issues and trends of practice
Participates in regular quality improvement activities to further refine clinical practice, equitable and efficient service for clients and families
Shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues, students and other professionals within the organization, professional body and community
Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment
Utilize the teaching/learning process to provide education, both formal and informal, to clients/families, colleagues, students, and other professionals within the organization and the community
Participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work setting and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
Supports the supervision of student clinicians as needed
Other duties as assigned
Provide consultation to community provders as appropriate
Work collaboratively with other team membets, including Communicative Disorder Assistants (CDAs)



and Behaviour Technicians (BTs)
**Qualifications**
Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
Previous pediatric clinical experience preferred
Experience providing assessment, consultation and treatment for clients with complex needs, including neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or acquired brain injuries
Experience implementing augmentative and alternative communication systems preferred
Familiarity with Applied Behaviour Analysis an asset
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families and members of the interdisciplinary care team
Demonstrated flexibility and co-operation in dealing with change
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team
