Reporting to the General Foreman, the Material Handler’s role is to move parts and products between departments, to enable an efficient flow of job orders, and production schedules are met. The employee will be frequently on the forklift and using other mobile equipment.

Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks
Working under the direction and supervision of the Foreman and Lead Hand, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Workplace Safety

Practices safety in the work place at all times to ensure he or she does not endanger oneself or others

Complies with all safety rules and practices as set by Occupational Health and Safety, WBM and any and all other relevant safety regulations and requirements

Customer Service

Follows verbal instructions or reads specifications to thoroughly understand the project before commencing any work order

Ensures the project meets the full satisfaction of the customer, within the time span expected

Completes the project carefully,



without unnecessarily wasting material and/or resources

Operational Duties

Read and interpret blue prints to ensure the correct parts are sorted appropriately

Follow work order directions and instructions given by supervisor

Maintain and organize areas, tag parts, store and locate parts

Move parts and finished products to/from departments

Operate forklift, jib/overhead crane to facilitate movement of parts/products

Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Note: Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Education

High school diploma

Experience

One year of experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset

Forklift, crane & rigging experience and/or certification is preferred

Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of safety practices

Knowledge of production flow and efficiencies

Skills

Strong ability to read blue prints, understand work orders and directions

Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, clear and concise

Interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others

Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
