Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Infant & Toddler Early Childhood Educator will work directly with children aged 6-37 months in a group setting. With support from the program Supervisor, the Early Childhood Educator will use their knowledge and skills to assist in creating an environment that supports children’s developmental growth and well-being.

Administration

Follow all McGregor’s policies & procedures, licensing and legal requirements.

Follow all direction provided by the Supervisor and/or Manager.

Ensure all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained.

Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the centre, children, families and staff.

Complete all required daily shift duties with efficiency.

Arrange for shift coverage when unable to work a scheduled shift.

Preform other duties as directed.

Working with the staff team and other professional supports to promote the growth and integration of child requiring extra supports.

Attend goal plan meetings with families, and community partners.

Inform and support staff in understanding all goal plans and actions required to fulfil these goal plans including;

Supports for staff when working 1:1 with a child

Inclusive planning

Behavioural guidance

Team collaboration

Daily care plans.

Prepare written observations, reports and assessments.

Teamwork

Work respectfully in partnerships with families and community partners.

Establish and maintain respectful, positive, collaborative, supportive working relationships with all co-workers.

Work with reasonable autonomy and independence in arranging materials and ideas for the children, under the direction of the Program Supervisor.

Program Development

Notice, record and collect children’s interactions with their surroundings, materials activities, discoveries and growth.

Create, share and display pedagogical narration.

Arrange the physical set up of the centre and maintain a stimulating, neat, orderly, safe and clean environment.





All interactions must align with the ECEBC Code of Ethics.

Child Growth & Development

Interact directly with the children, providing and creating positive attachments.

Understand each child’s unique personality and respond and replicate a caring and compassionate relationship with cooperative dialogue and actions.

Provide each child with opportunities and supports to navigate all developmental domains with a focus on self-help skills, Language and communication and development in ethe areas of physical, cognitive and social and emotional development.

Establish clear boundaries, consistent and simple expectations and limits with children.

Post Basic ECE

Early Childhood Educator and Infant & Toddler and Special Needs Certificate to Practice.

At least one year experience working with children in a licenced child care setting.

Current First Aid certificate.

Consent to Criminal Record Check.

Ability to multi-task and reassess priorities throughout the day.

Statement from medical practitioner indicating good physical and psychological ability to work with children.

Proof of immunization and tuberculosis vaccinations.

Positive team player; adaptable, punctual, reliable with good communication skills.

Shows motivation when working with children and in their growth and success.

Enjoys communicating and interacting with children.

Early Childhood Educator and Infant & Toddler and Special Needs Certificate to Practice.

At least one year experience working with children in a licenced child care setting.

Current First Aid certificate.
