Make a difference as a Youth Counsellor focused on Indigenous student success within the District School Board of Niagara. Foster a supportive environment for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit learners.
In this permanent position, you will work with students in various educational settings, leveraging culturally responsive strategies to support emotional and social well-being. Collaboration with school officials and community partners is essential to ensure students feel a strong sense of belonging. Your role will significantly impact their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate culturally affirming interactions with Indigenous students
• Support student engagement in school programs
• Advocate for students’ personal and educational goals
• Coordinate with community partners for additional resources
• Ensure confidentiality and maintain skilled standards
Requirements:
• Diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent
• Proven experience supporting Indigenous children and youth
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License for school visits
• Preference for candidates with Indigenous cultural knowledge
