Support First Nations youth as an Education Advocate at Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in in Dawson, Yukon. This vital role focuses on enhancing students' academic and emotional well-being.
As a First Nation Education Advocate, you will offer direct support to K-12 students identified as needing assistance. You will work under the direction of the HätrʼunohtänZho Manager, promoting collaboration between home and school to improve educational outcomes. You will guide students in completing their required curriculum and utilizing online resources from Yukon University.
Key Responsibilities:
• Aid First Nations students with academic challenges
• Enhance communication between students' families and schools
• Facilitate completion of necessary educational tasks
• Create educational programming tailored to student needs
• Conduct case work and necessary administrative duties
Requirements:
• High school diploma with relevant educational certifications
• Proven academic support expertise for students
• Understanding of First Nations cultural issues
• Experience working with school-aged youth in learning environments
• Skills in managing and resolving conflicts
