Support students with exceptional needs at Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as an Educational Assistant. This part-time term role focuses on providing critical assistance to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.
As an Educational Assistant, you will work 17.5 hours weekly in a dynamic school workplace, under the Principal’s direction. Your role includes collaborating with educators to support academic and pool programs, implement special interventions, and assist students with diverse learning needs. Knowledge in assistive technology enhances your ability to adapt programs effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide classroom support for Autism Spectrum Disorder students
• Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Participate in pool programs and therapy exercises
• Conduct behavior data observations and recordings
• Engage in yard duties and personal care assistance
Requirements:
• Community college diploma in Developmental Services or Child and Youth Care
• 1-2 years of experience with special needs children
• Valid First Aid/CPR Level C certification
• Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
• Knowledge of behavior management systems and technology
