Who Are You?
Reporting to the General Foreman, the mid-shop lead hand is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the mid shop including the paint bay and assembly area.

What Will You Do?
Customer Service

Ensures staff provides exceptional customer service to all customers, both internal and external, and responds to requests in a prompt and timely manner

Ensures workmanship on finished products meets or exceeds the cost, quality and schedule expectations of all customers, both internal and external

Human Resources Management

Recommend salary adjustments, transfers, promotions, etc.

Offer appropriate training to staff to increase their ability to do their job better

Leadership

Fosters an environment that facilitates active participation and staff involvement, offers job satisfaction, encourages creativity and is conducive to learning, development, advancement and the need to strive for excellence at all times

Provides constructive feedback

Communication





Provide an open and co-operative attitude towards progress and change to promote and meet the company goals

Workplace Safety

Promotes and ensures workplace safety exists at all times

Creates a safe and secure work environment that is conducive to productivity of the workers

Ensures the health and safety of each and every worker

Productivity

Resolves problems and recommends effective, practical work measures to improve productivity and product quality

Establishes methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments

Quality Control and Inspection

Inspects and ensures projects are completed in accordance to design specifications or work orders

Checks the workmanship quality and identifies products that fail to meet expected standards

Supply thoughtful and constructive solutions to reduce warranty and NCR costs

Collaborates to identify preventative measures to reduce errors and product quality is increased

Cost Control

Consistently promotes waste reduction in production processes and provides leadership to input and initiate change

Other Duties

Performs other duties as required

Minimum 5 years experience in a heavy equipment/manufacturing setting

Supervisory experience an asset

Red Seal/Journeyman ticket certification from applicable province

In-depth knowledge of safety practices

In-depth knowledge of all tools and equipment in steel fabrication and welding operations

Leadership skills to guide and lead





Knowledge transfer skills to train staff

Robust interpersonal skills to relate to staff at all levels

Strong command of the English language skills to read, comprehend and respond to verbal or written instructions

Effective communication skills to listen, write and speak in a clear and concise manner to individuals at various levels

Effective time management skills to productively complete work and meet all expected deadlines

Strong analytical skill to identify the problem(s) and find a solution(s)

Problem solving skills to methodically and logically work through technical and non-technical problems
