Join BC Ferries as a Deckhand focused on Bridge Watch in Alert Bay and ensure a secure and efficient experience for passengers. You will be responsible for both vessel operations and safety oversight.

In this role, you will support the Chief Officer by directing passenger and vehicle traffic on and off the vessel. Key skills include communication, maintenance, and safety monitoring. Your work encompasses everything from patrolling for compliance and safety hazards to aiding in maintenance tasks like cleaning and general upkeep of the vessel facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Direct traffic for vehicles and passengers on the vessel
• Communicate effectively with crew and ticket staff
• Secure propane tanks and passenger gates before sailing
• Perform vessel cleaning and maintenance tasks
• Patrol the vessel monitoring for safety and regulation compliance

Requirements:
• Hold a Bridge Watch Rating CoC or higher
• Certification in STCW Basic Safety training
• Obtain a Seafarers’ Medical Certificate
• Experience in emergency duties or drills
• Familiarity with seamanship practices
