About the Role
As Shipping Coordinator, you’ll lead the Shipping activities of our yard and warehouse – prioritizing deliveries, scheduling order builds, and making sure every order leaves accurate, complete, and on time. You’re responsible for the accuracy and efficiency of the entire shipping operation, from the moment an order request comes in to the moment it’s loaded and on the truck.
This role blends hands‑on work with logistics problem‑solving – you’ll assign and delegate work to load builders, troubleshoot product substitutions and order changes, and keep communication flowing between sales, drivers, and customers. Maximizing route efficiency, avoiding stock‑outs, and catching errors before they leave the yard are all part of a typical day.
What You’ll Be Doing
Scheduling
Prioritizing deliveries and scheduling order builds to meet customer commitments
Taking order requests and delegating and prioritizing the loading, building, and shipping of orders
Assigning and delegating tasks to Load Builders to ensure orders are built accurately and on schedule
Coordinating paperwork for all order requests in priority order
Performing quality checks on each load as a final double‑check before it leaves the yard
Logistics & Problem‑Solving
Ensuring all deliveries are maximized to their full potential – coordinating pickups on the return route whenever possible
Troubleshooting and problem‑solving product substitutions and order changes as they arise
Tracking product shipments through our tracking software
Reporting stock levels proactively to avoid stock‑outs
Creating purchase orders, placing orders, and checking inventory on‑hand as needed
Operating a forklift to load and unload trucks when required
Communication & Compliance
Maintaining ongoing communication with sales representatives, truck drivers, and customers to keep orders moving smoothly
Clearly and effectively communicating shipping‑related information to customers, vendors, and co‑workers via email and phone
Always working in compliance with WorkSafeBC Standards
What We’re Looking For
Here’s what will set you up for success in this role:
Strong coordination skills - you can assign work to load builders and drivers and keep people motivated during busy periods
Excellent organizational skills and exceptional time management - you can juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball
Strong problem‑solving skills, especially when handling order changes, substitutions, or unexpected issues
Detail oriented with strong attention to accuracy - quality‑checking loads and catching errors before they leave the yard
Clear, effective communication skills via email and phone with customers, vendors, and co‑workers
A collaborative communicator who keeps sales, drivers, and customers informed and aligned
Ability to perform physical tasks involving stretching, bending, lifting, and carrying objects of varying weights
Ability to lift at least 50lbs
Experience with yard tools (cut saw, banding wrenches, truck straps, etc.) and equipment such as forklifts or reach trucks is an asset
Knowledge of purchase order creation, ordering, and checking inventory on‑hand is an asset
