Ops & AI Fin
Ops Lead** , you will bring cost-to-value visibility to our data and AI estate—giving leaders the insight they need to control compute spend, optimise cost-to-performance and keep consumption predictable.
You will lead the Fin
Ops practice across the AXIS Data Platform, Databricks, and AI workloads—partnering closely with Engineering, SRE, and Architecture to embed cost discipline into how we build, deploy, and operate.

to data and AI by automating consumption tracking, monitoring, and reporting—giving leaders confidence in where every compute dollar is spent.
**Optimise cost-to-performance**
across Databricks, the AXIS Data Platform, and AI workloads—ensuring our investments scale efficiently as ADP grows.
**Embed Fin
Ops discipline**
into engineering and delivery practices through automation, release efficiency, and intentional performance management.
You'll sit within the Data Operations team, working closely with Engineering, SRE, Architecture, and Finance to ensure our data and AI compute costs remain transparent, controlled, and aligned with business value.
**What will you be doing in this role?**
**Fin
Ops Framework Ownership:**
Establish and own the Fin
Ops framework across data and AI, including chargeback/showback models, budgeting, and forecasting practices.
**Consumption Reporting & Governance:**
Give requirements for dashboard development and reporting that provide leaders with clear visibility into compute consumption, cost trends, and optimisation opportunities.
**Cloud Cost Optimisation:**
Drive cost management and optimisation initiatives across Azure, Databricks, and AI services in alignment with enterprise Fin
Ops practices.
**Cross-Functional Partnership:**
Collaborate with Engineering, SRE, Architecture, Finance, and BTS to embed cost-conscious decision-making into platform design and delivery.
**Cost Monitoring & Automation:**
Partner with Engineering to automate consumption tracking and cost monitoring across data and AI compute, with early-warning thresholds to prevent uncontrolled growth.
**AI Observability:**
Partner with BTS SRE to collaboratively design and operate a monitoring framework for deployed AI solutions—including model performance tracking, uptime, and token consumption—ensuring transparency and accountability for all production AI.
**Cost-to-Performance Tuning:**
Partner with Databricks development teams to optimise compute cost against performance as the AXIS Data Platform scales.
**Job Performance Optimisation:**
Drive automation and release efficiency to cut manual effort, reduce waste, and improve pipeline reliability—being intentional with processing performance.

**About you:**

**What we're looking for from you:**
Proven experience in Fin
Ops, cloud cost management, or platform finance roles, ideally within cloud-based environments and the (re)insurance or financial services industry.
Robust hands-on expertise with
**Databricks** ,
**Azure** , and
**Fin
Ops tooling**
(e.g., Azure Cost Management, native Databricks cost monitoring, third-party Fin
Ops platforms).
Demonstrated experience designing and operating cost monitoring, chargeback/showback, and consumption forecasting frameworks.
Familiarity with AI/ML workload economics, including token-based pricing models, GPU/compute consumption, and observability for AI solutions.
Understanding of SRE principles and partnership with engineering teams to embed cost discipline.
Experience driving automation and pipeline performance optimisation to reduce waste.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate consumption data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across technical, finance, and business teams.
Ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
**Role factors:**
In this role, you will typically be required to:
_Be in the office 3 days per week_
**What we offer:**
_For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $90.000 to $120,000 CAD.
Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location. _
_In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
