Project Controls Analyst

Job Type: Contract

Contract Duration: 1-Year

Pay Rate: Up to $68 per hour (DOE)

Location: Fort McMurray, AB (Onsite)

Your Current Role

As a Project Controls Analyst, you will support the successful delivery of increasingly complex projects valued at up to $10M. You will be responsible for project controls activities including scheduling, cost control, reporting, benchmarking, forecasting, and change management. Working closely with project stakeholders, engineering teams, construction teams, and leadership, you will provide critical analysis and reporting that supports informed decision-making and project success.

What You Need to Do

- Coordinate project controls processes, systems, and procedures across multiple project phases.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules aligned with project scope, objectives, and schedule requirements.
- Integrate resource-loaded information into project schedules and track performance against plan.
- Monitor project progress, analyze performance, and report on project status.
- Prepare, consolidate, and analyze project controls reports while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Compare planned, actual, incurred, and forecast costs and hours, identifying and explaining variances.
- Support project cost forecasting, change management, make-up orders, and change order estimates.
- Assist with engineering and construction progress audits.
- Analyze contractor change proposals against Engineering Work Packages (EWP)



and Construction Work Packages (CWP).
- Perform benchmarking analyses, data normalization, and benchmarking reporting.
- Interpret industry studies, external databases, and published reports to support project insights and recommendations.
- Escalate project concerns and risks to leadership while providing recommendations for resolution.
- Support project setup processes that facilitate productive project closeout and future benchmarking activities.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

- 7-10 years of project controls experience supporting engineering, construction, or capital projects.
- Strong experience with project scheduling, cost control, forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis.
- Proficiency with Project Cost Management Systems and related project controls tools.
- Strong analytical and benchmarking capabilities, including data normalization and reporting.
- Ability to perform complex calculations, develop recommendations, and present findings in chart and report formats.
- Excellent communication, influencing, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and support decision-making.
- Certified Cost Professional (CCP) designation or equivalent advanced cost engineering certification is considered an asset.
