About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Kimberley, focusing on the mining and minerals sector. This critical role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of heavy-duty mechanical systems and equipment used in mining operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of these systems, contributing to optimized resource extraction and processing. Key Responsibilities
Design, specify, and oversee the installation of heavy mechanical equipment for mining operations, including crushers, conveyors, and processing machinery. Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including structural and fatigue analysis, to ensure the durability and safety of equipment under harsh conditions. Develop and implement maintenance strategies and predictive maintenance programs for critical mining assets. Manage mechanical engineering aspects of capital projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical failures and provide engineering solutions to minimize downtime. Ensure all designs and installations comply with stringent health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the mining industry. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. 7-10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in the mining and minerals industry. Proven experience with heavy industrial machinery, material handling systems, and process equipment. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering simulation tools. Strong understanding of mining operational environments and associated safety protocols. Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills. Benefits
