The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and promote risk management among business units within Honda’s Canadian businesses, including Honda Canada Inc., Honda Canada Finance Inc., and Honda Trading Canada Inc.RESPONSIBILITIESProvide high-quality, strategic legal advice on complex matters that cut across legal and related areas, which may include the following practice areas: Privacy, commercial/contracts, corporate secretarial, financial services, consumer protection, advertising, labour & employment, and litigationDevelop and sustain effective and collaborative skilled working relationships with business customers and other legal professionalsMonitor developments in legislation, regulations, case law and general legal literature to determine impact on company and identify opportunitiesPromote legal education/awareness across the organizationDevelop and support management of the company’s compliance activitiesQUALIFICATIONSLawyer in good standing and called to the bar in a Canadian jurisdiction 4-5 years+ of relevant post-call legal experienceHigh degree of integrityDemonstrated ability to anticipate issues and strategically identify riskStrong organizational/project management skillsA continuous learner who stays on top of business trends and legislative changesFlexible and adaptable to changeStrong communicator with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to a diverse group of clients/stakeholdersStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsStrong interpersonal skillsPrior experience working in the automotive industry is considered an assetDevelops and maintains good working relationships with other legal professionals, business customers, as well as other internal and external stakeholdersHIRING PRACTICESThe salary range for this position is $118,800- $148,500 CAD annually.
