About the Role

Our client, a key contributor to the telecoms infrastructure in the region, is seeking a skilled Telecoms Fiber Optic Specialist to join their technical team in Kimberley . This role focuses on the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks, which are essential for delivering high-speed broadband and communication services. You will work closely with installation crews and network engineers to ensure the integrity and optimal performance of our fiber optic assets. Key Responsibilities

- Install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables according to industry standards and company procedures.
- Perform testing and analysis of fiber optic networks using equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
- Diagnose and resolve faults within the fiber optic infrastructure, minimizing service disruption.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fiber optic networks.
- Maintain accurate records of all fiber optic installations, testing results,



and repairs.
- Assist in the planning and design of new fiber optic network deployments.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician or Specialist in the telecoms industry .
- Proficiency in fiber optic splicing techniques (fusion and mechanical) and termination methods.
- Experience with fiber optic testing equipment and interpretation of test results.
- Understanding of fiber optic network design principles and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical documentation.
- Robust problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
