About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Transmission and Distribution Engineer to play a crucial role in the planning, design, and operation of the electricity grid in the Northern Cape . This position involves ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of power, addressing challenges related to grid expansion, upgrades, and integration of renewable energy sources. You will work a hybrid schedule, allowing for on-site assessments and collaboration with field teams, alongside remote engineering analysis and design. This role is vital for maintaining and enhancing the regional power infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and engineer electrical systems for transmission and distribution networks, including substations and overhead lines.
- Perform power system studies, such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, and transient stability simulations.
- Develop technical specifications for equipment procurement and project execution.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of grid infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues within the transmission and distribution system.




- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the transmission and distribution sector of the power industry.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, grid codes, and relevant industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, adept at working in a hybrid environment.
