About the Role Project Manager - Bridges
is responsible for leading bridge engineering assignments in
Toronto, ON, Canada,
overseeing the planning, coordination, and delivery of bridge design and inspection projects. The role operates within a multidisciplinary infrastructure environment and manages project execution from initiation through completion while maintaining compliance with contractual obligations, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
The position provides leadership across project planning, stakeholder coordination, contract administration, budget management, and technical delivery activities. Responsibilities include collaboration with consultants, contractors, government agencies, and regulatory stakeholders to support project execution and reporting requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings 6 to 10 years of civil and structural engineering experience, including bridge design, inspection, infrastructure project delivery, and project management exposure within regulated transportation environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multi-disciplinary
bridge design
and inspection projects throughout all project phases.
Develop and maintain
project schedules , budgets, resource plans, and delivery milestones.
Coordinate
engineering design
activities with consultants, contractors, government agencies, and internal project teams.
Monitor compliance with
technical specifications , engineering standards, and contractual requirements.
Prepare, track, and control
project budgets , cost forecasts, and financial performance metrics.
Administer
change orders
and support contract modifications throughout project execution.
Complete project invoicing and oversee
subconsultant management
and payment tracking.
Conduct
stakeholder coordination
meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Resolve
technical challenges
and support issue management throughout project delivery.
Identify, assess, and mitigate
project risks
that may impact scope, budget, schedule, or quality.
Implement and monitor
quality control
processes and corrective actions.
Perform
site inspections , audits, and field reviews to verify project compliance.
Ensure compliance with applicable
safety regulations
and project safety requirements.
Review and approve project
safety plans
and construction methodologies.
Prepare
technical reporting , progress updates, and project status reports for senior management.
Support
proposal development
and submission activities for bridge engineering opportunities.
What do we need from you Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent PE registration), where required by jurisdiction.
6 to 10 years of professional experience in civil engineering, bridge design, bridge inspection, and project management.
Demonstrated experience managing bridge engineering projects from planning through delivery.
Robust knowledge of structural engineering principles and bridge engineering practices.
Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, cost control, and stakeholder management.
Familiarity with
CHBDC ,
AASHTO ,
ASTM , and applicable local engineering standards.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and external project stakeholders.
Ability to prepare project reports, manage risks, and oversee quality and safety compliance activities.
Assets
Experience delivering transportation infrastructure projects involving bridges and related structures.
Experience supporting procurement activities, proposal preparation, and pursuit submissions.
Exposure to construction-phase services, field investigations, and engineering inspections.
Experience working with municipal, provincial, or federal transportation authorities.
Additional training or certifications related to project management, quality management, or safety management systems.
