Shape the future of students as an Academic Advisor in the Faculty of Arts at UBC. This role involves guiding academic success and personal development for a diverse student body.
This fixed-term appointment seeks an Academic Advisor dedicated to supporting around 14,000 students, including Aboriginal, domestic, and international individuals. Your responsibilities will focus on academic advising, assessing student performance, and aiding in career planning while promoting recruitment and retention initiatives. You'll work autonomously under the supervision of Associate Directors and collaborate with various university personnel to enhance student services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and evaluate academic advising programs
• Assess students' academic records and needs
• Inform students about admissions and degree requirements
• Coach on post-graduation options and career paths
• Implement retention initiatives to support students
Requirements:
• Experience in academic advising or education support
• Robust understanding of career advising and resources
• Ability to assess academic records and support decisions
• Proven experience working with diverse populations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
