Senior DevSecOps Engineer to develop and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence for a crown corporation client
Our crown corporation client is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to develop and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence through automation and the adoption of new tools/best practices
Initial 1-year contract opportunity with strong potential to extension for a total term of 3 years. Candidates with the ability to work on-site 12 days/month in Ottawa will be preferred, however 100% remote options are available. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
The selected candidate must be eligible to apply for / currently hold a valid Government of Canada Secret clearance - this has a minimum residency requirement of 10+ years in Canada without leaving for more than 6 months at a time.
Responsibilities
- Develop scripts and pipelines required in release processes, managing environments and deployment
- Resolve and support the resolution of complex operational issues by leveraging advanced expertise in the underlying business applications and associated infrastructure
- Develop and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence through automation and the adoption of appropriate tools and best practices
- Contribute technical expertise within the scrum teams by supporting the resolution of technical issues and sharing knowledge with team members
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to support continuous integration, testing, and deployment processes
- Design, develop, and deploy containerized applications to ensure portability, scalability, and efficient resource utilization across environments
- Deploy and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) solutions to provide a fully managed Kubernetes environment integrated with Azure services
- Utilize GitHub for version control, collaboration, and code management, supporting efficient workflows
- Manage the health, scaling, and performance of Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting issues
- Work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to meet project goals and best practices
Must-haves
- 7 years of demonstrated experience in applications development and systems integration
- 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and solutions
- 7+ years of demonstrated experience in DevOps and CI/CD expertise: proficiency in DevSecOps , version control, artifact management, and build pipelines
- Demonstrated experience deploying and managing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and/or Red Hat OpenShift
- Demonstrated experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Nexus, Jenkins, Tekton, Argo CD, Azure Container Registry, and Azure DevOps
- Demonstrated experience with build automation and dependency management tools, such as Maven and Gradle
- Demonstrated recent experience streamlining processes through automation
- Demonstrated extensive experience supporting enterprise systems, with a solid understanding of production operations, application resiliency and availability
Nice to Have Skills
- Demonstrated Knowledge of managing configurations through yaml, overlays and solutions like Kustomize and Helm
- Demonstrated knowledge of application authentication through certificate management.
- Demonstrated experience working with tools similar to CyberArk, AppviewX
- Demonstrated experience working with Message queues such as AMQ and Spring integration platforms
- Knowledge of Standard Query Language (SQL), Java, Unix scripts, node.js,
- French would be considered an asset
